PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lux Capital, a leading venture capital firm, today announced that Zavain Dar had joined the firm as a Senior Associate in its Palo Alto office. He will focus on identifying and leading seed and early-stage technology investments and working with emerging entrepreneurs.

Zavain was previously an investor at Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors, where he invested and worked with companies like Zymergen, Caspida, HumanAPI, Coins.ph, and Blockstream. He authored the firm's theses in a wide range of fields including Genetics, Synthetic Biology, and Bitcoin. Prior to Innovation Endeavors he was an early employee at Discovery Engine, acquired by Twitter, where he engineered machine learning and data science approaches across distributed systems to build web scale ranking algorithms for next generation search. He was also a founder of Fountainhop, one of the first hyper-local social networks. Zavain attended Stanford University where he holds a B.S. in Symbolic Systems and an M.S. in Theoretical Computer Science. He is also an adjunct instructor at Stanford University, recently teaching the first Cryptocurrency class offered from any top-25 school.
