CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. & RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comprehensive Health Services, Incorporated (CHSi) was recently awarded a five-year (Base plus 4 option years), $18 million contract by the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Land Management. CHSI will provide medical qualification determination services to arduous duty wildland firefighters and communications tower climbers to ensure they are medically qualified to serve in an arduous duty position. CHSi will provide medical services in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

The contract provides medical services for the four federal bureaus within the Department of Interior (DOI) that employ positions designated for arduous duty necessitating medical qualification determinations as a condition of employment, including, but not limited to, arduous duty wildland firefighters and communications tower climbers. The four bureaus include the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the National Park Service (NPS).
As part of the contract, CHSi will conduct an average of 2,500 baseline exams and 800 periodic exams per year.
