TYSONS CORNER, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fred Funk has joined the executive management team of Preferred Systems Solutions (PSS) as Senior Vice President, National Security Group. In this newly established role, Mr. Funk will be responsible for PSS’ intelligence operations and business development, as well as advancing and executing merger and acquisition (M&A) strategies within the Intelligence Community (IC).
Mr. Funk was a co-founder of The KEYW Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: KEYW), a leading provider of cyber superiority, cybersecurity and geospatial intelligence solutions for U.S. Government intelligence and defense customers and commercial enterprises. While at KEYW, Mr. Funk had multiple roles, including founding Chief Financial Officer, Vice-President of Corporate Development, and Vice President of National Security Solutions. He was a driving force behind KEYW’s growth from inception in August 2008 to a public company in less than 26 months. During Mr. Funk’s tenure at KEYW, the company completed 18 acquisitions in less than five years.
Prior to KEYW, Mr. Funk was Vice President for Corporate Development at Essex Corporation, an Intelligence Community services and solutions provider. While at Essex, Mr. Funk was responsible for all merger and acquisition activities. During his three year tenure, Mr. Funk oversaw the completion of four acquisitions, growth from $15 million to over $250 million in revenue, and finally, the culmination of Essex’s acquisition by Northrop Grumman in 2007.
