MUNDELEIN, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thousands of people across Europe – from healthcare professionals and breast cancer survivors have been hard at work choreographing pink glove dances in support of the fight against breast cancer in the Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition. From September 22 through October 6, 2014, the public is invited to join in the effort and vote for their favorite pink glove dance video at www.pinkglovedance.eu.
“The Medline Pink Glove Dance competition has brought together hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, patients and communities to celebrate life and hope for a cure,” said Tripp Amdur, president of Medline International. “We are very pleased to be involved in a campaign that brings comfort and happiness to all who are affected by the disease through the simple joy of dancing.”
The winning videos will be announced October 20 and chosen based on the most number of votes. The winning videos will receive a EUR 8,000 (1st prize), EUR 4,000 (2nd prize) and EUR 3,000 (3rd prize) donation in their names from Medline to the breast cancer charity of their choice.
Voting is open to anyone with an email address. Separate competitions are also held in North America and in Australia and New Zealand.
History of Medline’s Pink Glove Dance
Back in 2009, Medline turned everyday exam gloves from green to pink and launched an aggressive breast cancer education campaign to help take the scary out of detection exams and remind nurses about the importance of creating a comfortable, friendly and open dialogue with their patients. Later that year, the original Medline Pink Glove Dance video premiered and featured 200 Portland, Ore. hospital workers wearing pink gloves and dancing in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention. Today the video has nearly 14 million views on YouTube®. With so many organizations wanting to participate in their own video, Medline created the Pink Glove Dance video competition in 2011. Since then, the competition has brought together nearly 200,000 healthcare professionals, patients and communities to celebrate and honor all who have been affected by the disease through the joy of dancing.
