SAN ANTONIO--()--In honor of Baby Safety Month, Go Mama Go Designs is hosting a Bumper Trade-In. Parents can send in their dangerous, horizontal (or mesh) bumpers in exchange for any Wonder Bumper Set at half-off retail price. These innovative, vertical rail guards, known as Wonder Bumpers, which wrap tightly around each crib rail, have been proven safe and are the only crib bumper excluded from state bans.

Traditional crib bumpers have been linked to multiple infant fatalities due to suffocation and asphyxiation. Because of these risks, the American Academy of Pediatrics and other key organizations advise against their use. Maryland has taken the lead in banning the sale of crib bumpers as well as the City of Chicago. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is currently investigating their hazards and is expected to make a decision by year’s end.

“A federal ban on such archaic devices is the only way to ensure safer sleep environments, however I applaud Go Mama Go’s leadership and generosity,” says Austin, Texas Pediatrician Melinda Holliday. “Although traditional crib bumpers are dangerous, I encourage parents to use safe alternatives, like Wonder Bumpers, to protect and comfort their baby.”

Wonder Bumpers have been subjected to 3rd party clinical studies, plus medical evaluations by two US leading infant pulmonary experts, who determined that airflow in a crib with Wonder Bumpers is comparable to one with no crib bumper, yet with the added benefit of padded protection. Vertical rail guards also alleviate any risk of suffocation or asphyxiation normally found with traditional crib bedding. Concerned parents do not have to choose a bare crib for their baby anymore.

“Asking parents to discard their old bumper is a proactive way to send a message to the government that parents are concerned about this issue,” says Go Mama Go Designs, Co-founder, Georgia Fiebrich. “We believe every baby deserves a safe, comforting, protective environment. The Bumper Drive helps ensure that they do.”

The patented vertical design is now the only soft, padded bumper that is deemed safe and doctor approved. Go Mama Go’s Bumper Drive runs through October 31. Go Mama Go Designs seeks to inspire and simplify the lives of parents and their children.
