Steven Highlander Named IP Hero Award Winner

DURHAM, N.C.--()--Steven L. Highlander Ph.D., J.D was selected as the newest IP Hero Award winner. The IP Hero Awards, sponsored by Patent and Trademark law firm Murgitroyd, are an international program developed to recognize individuals in the Intellectual Property industry who have made outstanding contributions to the industry or organization(s) they represent.

Dr. Highlander is currently Managing Member of Parker Highlander, PLLC, a boutique IP law firm dedicated to handling an array of client matters including patent prosecution, counseling, opinions, due diligence and portfolio management. In addition, the firm has been named Best Law Firm – Patent Law – Tier 1 and Biotechnology Law Tier 1 by US News and World Reports.

Parker Highlander, PLLC focuses on portfolio management for universities, non-profits and small to mid-sized corporate clients. Preparation and filing of patent applications, as well as prosecution of these cases, make up the bulk of Steve’s docket. He also has considerable opinion experience for patentability, validity, infringement and inventorship disputes. Dr. Highlander has also been involved in over 20 interference proceedings, including several garnering Federal Circuit review.

He is a recognized speaker and author in the areas of Biotechnology Patent Law and University Portfolio Management. Steve received a special gubernatorial appointment as Commissioner of the Texas Historical Commission and was also named the 2015 Best Patent Attorney in Austin, TX by Best Lawyers, US News and World Report.
