Managing Employee Benefits with a Cell Phone

Employers who provide mobile access to group life beneficiary management help employees receive full value from an important benefit

ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--Updating beneficiary information on the group life insurance coverage they receive through their employers isn’t a top-of-mind task for most American workers. That’s why thoughtful employers choose a group life carrier with mobile access to beneficiary information.

Beneficiary management is the most recent transaction added to the mobile capabilities available with group life insurance from Minnesota Life, a Securian Financial Group affiliate.

“When beneficiary information is not up-to-date and employees’ situations change before they pass away, it can be difficult to identify the current beneficiary,” said Adam Taylor, manager, Group Life client Technology, Securian Financial Group. “Employers who give workers the opportunity to update this crucial information on the go understand their employees’ desire for convenience.”

In addition to beneficiary management, Minnesota Life lets employees complete Evidence of insurability with real-time response from a mobile device. Employees with mobile devices also can manage the cash value in their group universal life and variable group universal life insurance accounts.

“We know that consumers expect to be able to use their smartphones and tablets to perform any number of transactions,” said Taylor. “By providing mobile functionality, employers meet employees’ expectations and help them get full use of their group life coverage.”

Since 1880, Securian Financial Group has provided financial security for individuals and businesses in the form of insurance, investments and retirement plans. Now one of the nation’s largest life insurance groups, it is the holding company parent of several companies.

Insurance products are issued by Minnesota Life Insurance Company in all states except New York where products are issued by Securian Life Insurance Company, a New York authorized insurer. Both companies are headquartered in Saint Paul, MN and each insurer is solely responsible for the financial obligations under the policies and contracts it issues. Product availability and features may vary by state.
