TVzor and Vidmind Launch New Cloud-Based TV Service in Russia

Newly Launched Virtual TV Operator TVzor, A Subsidiary of Trellas, One Of The Biggest Independent Retail Groups In Russia, Expects 100,000 Subscribers Within A Year

TEL AVIV, Israel--()--Vidmind (www.vidmind.com), which enables new virtual TV operators to launch a full blown OTT Pay TV service, announced today that Trellas (Svyaznoy retail chain, Svyaznoy bank, Enter, etc.) went live through TVzor, using the Vidmind cloud-based, hybrid OTT/DTT platform as the foundation for a new primary TV service in Russia.

For the first time in Russia, TVzor is providing primary TV service using a retail hybrid STB. The service combines content from free-to air and OTT sources allowing for a broad selection of live TV, Catch-up and premium VOD. It is compatible with all screens, including PC, Android and Apple devices, smart TVs, and more. The box is available for purchase online or at any of Svyaznoy’s 3200 outlet stores, and soon in other retail chains.

“The time has come for a new player on the Russian TV scene – one who can capture the big screen by offering a primary TV service and an affordable STB,” said Mikhail Nepomnyaschy, CEO of TVzor. “Vidmind provided us with a turnkey solution that allowed us to leapfrog two generations within the Russian TV broadcasting landscape and let us focus on what we do best – content and marketing.”

The Vidmind platform offers TV Everywhere, across all devices, with advanced functionality like personalization and social integration. The turnkey solution contains all the components necessary to deliver a comprehensive service including content preparation, subscriber management, service enrichment and monetization tools. And because it’s cloud-based, operators benefit from reduced capex and operational costs.

“We are excited about working with TVzor because it is a textbook example of how a retailer can become a virtual TV operator fairly quickly and at minimal cost and risk,” said Danny Peled, CEO of Vidmind. “The emergence of virtual operators means a better, more affordable and personalized TV experience for users worldwide. We’re pleased to be able to empower these innovative companies with the means to create a strong and competitive TV service.”
