REYKJAVIK, Iceland--()--Since its inception in 1990, the Reykjavik Jazz Festival has featured prominent international jazz stars alongside local performers hailing from Iceland’s vibrant music scene. Iceland has a rich musical history dating back to the early days of the Vikings to the modern era of international sensations like Bjork.

Not only will festival goers have the opportunity to experience outstanding musical performances, but they can also immerse themselves in Reykjavik’s natural beauty, exciting nightlife and rich historical culture. It’s not too late to enjoy some of the world’s best jazz while basking in Iceland’s endless summer sun, which is just a short five hour flight from New York City. Flights to Iceland are available from any of Icelandair’s North American hubs.

Kicking off on Thursday, August 14, The Reykjavik Jazz Festival takes place at the iconic Harpa Concert Hall with opening-night performances by saxophonist Chris Speed, and the Afro-Cuban rumba band The Pedrito Martinez Group. Each night of the week features three to six different musical acts, with the festival wrapping up on Wednesday, August 20 in Harpa’s stunning main Eldborg hall. Special performances by Polish violin virtuoso Adam Baldych, hard-hitting improv trio The Thing, and Iceland’s own jazz quartet, AdHd, will close out this year’s festivities.

Daily and weekly festival passes are available for purchase at the Harpa Concert Hall (approximately $34-$129). For more details and to view the entire festival program, click here. Be sure to stay up to date on the latest announcements by liking the Reykjavik Jazz Festival on Facebook!
