Time Warner Cable Announces Commitment to Transform Customer Experience in Seven Markets

‘TWC Maxx’ initiative will bring rock-solid network reliability, super-fast Internet and new TV experience to Charlotte, Dallas, Hawaii, Kansas City, Raleigh, San Antonio and San Diego

NEW YORK--()--Time Warner Cable (TWC) today announced it will begin transforming the TV and Internet service experience in seven markets in 2015: Charlotte, Dallas, Hawaii, Kansas City, Raleigh, San Antonio and San Diego. These markets will join Los Angeles, New York City and recently announced Austin, where the service transformation – known as ‘TWC Maxx’ -- is underway, and more than 3 million customers in these cities will have access to Internet speeds up to six times faster than before, along with many other enhancements, by year-end.

“We are committed to reinventing the TWC service experience market-by-market, and we’re pleased to announce the expansion of our efforts to these seven key markets,” said Time Warner Cable Chairman and CEO Robert D. Marcus. “We want our customers to know a new experience is coming that brings them super-fast Internet speeds and a more advanced TV product. Maxx starts with a top-to-bottom network evaluation to ensure optimum performance and rock-solid network reliability, and includes a best-in-class customer experience.”

Time Warner Cable began implementing the program this spring in Los Angeles and New York City. As network upgrades are completed, TWC is introducing enhancements such as faster Internet, all-digital TV and soon, an expanded On Demand library and enhanced DVR capabilities.

“These investments mark the beginning of a new generation of broadband and cable services that will transform the customer experience as they know it today,” added Marcus.

New Internet Experience for Residential & Business Customers

Customers who subscribe to any of the six Internet plans will receive an increase in speeds at no additional cost, with customers experiencing increases up to six times faster, depending on their current level of speed. For example, customers who subscribe to Standard Service, formerly up to 15 Mbps, will now receive up to 50 Mbps, and customers who subscribe to the Ultimate plan, formerly up to 100 Mbps, will receive up to 300 Mbps – three times their current speeds, at no extra charge. Some customers will need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to enjoy the full benefits of the speed increases.

For business customers in the announced markets, Time Warner Cable Business Services will offer speed tiers of 100 x 10, 200 x 20 and 300 x 20 as new options in its Wideband portfolio, complementing the existing tiers of Internet services. TWC Business Services also offers a symmetrical fiber-based Internet service that delivers speeds of up to 10 x 10 gigabits per second for business customers.

New TV Experience

Time Warner Cable will accelerate the rollout of new features to its TV customers in the announced markets, beginning in Los Angeles and New York City this year. Among these is the delivery of an all-digital lineup, which is complete in NYC and well underway in LA. To enhance TWC On Demand, the content library will reach 39,000 titles by year-end and will continue to build out capacity to 75,000 hours. TWC will also introduce the new Enhanced DVR, an advanced set-top box with one terabyte of storage, enough to hold 150 hours of high-definition (HD) programming. TWC customers will see their DVR storage increase two to six times more than their current DVR capabilities. The Enhanced DVR also comprises six tuners, which provide the ability to simultaneously record up to six different programs.
