Travel: Cornwall Boasts Most Expensive Seaside Resort in the UK

LONDON--()--Cornwall is home to the most expensive seaside resort in the United Kingdom, according to a recent survey from Cheaprooms.co.uk.

The survey specifically established the 20 most expensive destinations in the UK. The cost of lodging during the current month of August, the main summer holiday period, served as the basis of comparison.

With an average price tag of £123 per night for the least expensive double room, the town of St. Ives clearly revealed itself to be the UK’s most expensive resort. It must be mentioned that the survey considered only such hotels or guest houses rated 3 stars or higher and that are well located close to the beach.

Significantly cheaper than St. Ives is Tenby, located in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Ranking as the second most expensive UK destination, the least costly double room will set guests back £107 per night. Two more resorts in Cornwall rank among the Top 10: Falmouth and Padstow. They share the sixth spot with Scotland’s Oban at an average rate of £84 nightly.

The following table shows the UK’s Top 10 most expensive seaside resorts. The prices shown reflect the average daily rate for each destination’s cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel, guest house or B&B) for the time period spanning August 1–31, 2014.
