Tick Data, Inc. Announces New API-Based Hosted Data Delivery Solutions

New Suite of Hosted Data Delivery Solutions Provides Clients with Powerful Tools for Accessing Historical Intraday Data from the Cloud

WASHINGTON--()--Tick Data, Inc. (www.tickdata.com), the first commercial provider of historical intraday time series market data, is pleased to announce TickAPI®, a new suite of API-based hosted data delivery methods that enables users to programmatically request as-traded and time series data stored and maintained by Tick Data in the Amazon Cloud. TickAPI® removes the burden of storing and updating large historical data sets, and allows clients to request the exact data they need, configured as they require.

“Throughout its history, Tick Data has endeavored to remove the challenges of collecting, validating, and maintaining archives of historical intraday data faced by the financial community,” said Tom Myers, Partner and SVP Business Development of Tick Data, Inc. “TickAPI® addresses the one remaining burden we had still left to our clients; storage of the data.”

TickAPI® harnesses the power of TickWrite®, Tick Data’s popular data management tool. It provides users with a simple way to programmatically access Tick Data’s entire library of historical intraday equity, futures, forex, cash index, and index data, customize the data, and stream it directly to their models, databases, or analytical software.

“We designed TickAPI® to be powerful enough for the most sophisticated team of quantitative analysts working at a bank, hedge fund, mutual fund, or CTA, while remaining simple and cost-effective enough to be used by smaller shops,” said Myers. “In fact, given the variety of API-based hosting and data delivery choices we currently have and will have by the end of the year, we expect the majority of our clients to be users of at least one API delivery method in 2015.”

Expansion of data coverage of global markets has traditionally been Tick Data’s product development objective, but client demand, new technologies, and a cloud presence in Amazon Web Services (AWS) made developing a hosted data solution a priority.

“New markets like global equities and new asset classes like forex traditionally topped clients’ wish lists,” said Myers. “But in recent years, requests for API-based access to hosted data have been more common. For clients who are already leveraging cloud-based infrastructure and clients who host their models in traditional data centers, our new hosted data solutions make our data offering even more versatile and powerful.”

Celebrating its 30th year as the industry-standard provider of historical intraday time series data, Tick Data continues to innovate and respond to the needs of the financial community. TickAPI® is another reason why research-quality data is only part of what sets Tick Data’s offering apart.
