Trustpilot Continues Global Growth with NYC Office Expansion

New office will support growing U.S. business

NEW YORK--()--Trustpilot, the leading review community for online shoppers, today announced the opening of its new office in New York City. This location will support the rapid customer and employee growth in the U.S., where new additions to the sales, marketing and services teams are serving a user base that has doubled in the first half of 2014. It is part of Trustpilot’s ongoing global expansion, which includes a new, larger headquarters in Denmark and a new office in London. As a 2013 Nielsen study reports, 84 percent of consumers trust word-of-mouth recommendations more than other forms of advertising, and brands are quickly adjusting their marketing strategies to include reviews.

Trustpilot’s online review-driven community and technology platform allows e-commerce businesses to engage directly with customers, inviting reviews of their online experiences and channeling feedback to continuously improve trust and satisfaction among customers. In the U.S., year-over-year revenue has tripled in the first half of 2014, and business customers relying on Trustpilot to shape their customer shopping standards now span industries such as retail, travel and online services, and include Springleaf Financial Corporation, WordPress.com, JustFab.com, UShip and BookIt.com, among many others.

Ian MacDonald, e-commerce manager at Silver Star Brands (home to Miles Kimball, Walter Drake and more) said, “We’ve created a new channel to engage with customers via Trustpilot, and it’s helped us gain loyalty and valuable voice-of-the-customer information, and improve our marketing performance and conversion rates.”

Trustpilot’s New York employee count has tripled in six months, and the company will continue to fill key sales, marketing, customer success and finance positions to support the increasing customer base. Globally, Trustpilot houses more than 7.5 million reviews, and consumers currently contribute an additional 400,000 reviews a month. The company raised $25 million in Series C financing this January, led by DFJ Esprit in London and DFJ in Menlo Park, Calif. with participation from Index Ventures, Northzone and Seed Capital, to support the global expansion and accelerate market growth.

“Consumers base their trust in brands on their peers’ experiences and reviews, and more businesses are creating a forum for consumers to share their reviews,” said Peter Holten Mühlmann, CEO and founder of Trustpilot. “We’re adding more than 2,000 new merchants every month, and our growing U.S. customer base is a large portion of our business.”
