Colorado Cleantech Industries Association Announces the Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge

GOLDEN, Colo.--()--The Colorado Cleantech Industries Association (CCIA) announces the inaugural Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge, a product innovation showcase in Denver, October 2, 2014.

In support of a collaborative approach to energy generation and development, CCIA is hosting an Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge on October 2, 2014. As the oil and natural gas industry has expanded, environmental and resource usage concerns have followed. Through the Challenge, CCIA will be working with Noble Energy, Encana and ConocoPhillips to identify groundbreaking technology solutions for these challenges.

“At Noble Energy, we are committed to working together to develop solutions that enable Coloradans to have the energy we need, the economy we want and the environment we value,” said Dan Kelly, Noble Energy Vice President, DJ Basin. “The Cleantech Challenge aligns with our responsibility as an operator to continuously evaluate ways to enhance our operations by identifying and implementing new technologies and processes to make energy development safer, more environmentally responsible, quieter and cleaner.”

On July 17, a call for technology products and solutions will be nationally distributed. Interested cleantech companies will enter a competitive vetting process, after which 10-12 companies will be invited to present their technologies to the oil and natural gas partners. The process will culminate in an invitation-only event that will bring together oil and natural gas producers, clean technology solutions providers, Colorado’s research universities and founding sponsors Norton Rose Fulbright and the Colorado Energy Office.

“It is only natural, given Colorado’s energy mix, that we were interested in finding a creative way to partner with the natural gas community,” said Chris Shapard, CCIA’s Executive Director. “We are pleased to be working on this program with a broad set of natural gas and clean technology companies who are crossing once competitive lines in order to work together towards an all-of-the-above energy mix.”

CCIA is at the forefront of a strategy for integration, not just of renewables but also for cleantech sectors such as energy efficiency, transportation, storage, air and water. In partnership with the state’s traditional energy resources, all are important players in the cooperative development and implementation of energy solutions.
