EDF Renewable Energy Signs Power Purchase Agreement with Great Plains Energy for 150-MW Slate Creek Wind Project

SAN DIEGO & KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) today announced the company has entered into a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Great Plains Energy (NYSE: GXP), parent company of Midwestern utilities, Kansas City Power & Light and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations, for the 150-megawatt (MW) Slate Creek Wind Project in Kansas.

Slate Creek Wind Project, located on 17,000 acres approximately 50 miles south of Wichita, Kansas, in Sumner County, will consist of 75 Vestas 2.0 megawatt wind turbines. Construction is expected to commence in late 2014 with commercial operation anticipated by the end of 2015.
