DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) award for 2013-2014 was presented recently to Burnett Plaza of Fort Worth at the annual convention of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). The most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry, the TOBY award recognizes quality in buildings and rewards excellence in building management. Burnett Plaza is owned by Dallas-based TIER REIT and managed by Behringer.
“During the competitions, all facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly evaluated,” said Gerald Oliver, Senior Vice President of Commercial Property Management for Behringer, the building’s managing agent. “The judges review and score everything from community involvement and site management to environmental green policies and procedures. To be a winner, a property has to demonstrate excellence in building management, operational efficiency, tenant retention, emergency planning and community impact.”
“We are very proud of the staff of Burnett Plaza,” said Scott Fordham, Chief Executive Office of TIER REIT. “They work very hard to have top-notch operations and provide our tenants with a great office experience.”
Local BOMA chapters hold their own competition for the TOBY award. Local winners advance to regional, and then international, competition. Burnett Plaza prevailed against finalists from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Montreal, Minneapolis and Charlotte to take home the top prize in the category of buildings with more than one million square feet.
“Becoming an international TOBY winner is an outstanding achievement, one that every property management professional aspires to achieve,” said Allison Millington, General Manager of Burnett Plaza.
