USG Partners with Community & Industry Experts to Help Children on Chicago’s South Side

Kicking off the American Institute of Architects’ annual conference, Chicago-based USG Corp. contributes building materials and volunteers to projectChicago “building blitz”

CHICAGO--()--USG Corporation (NYSE:USG), a leading building products company, joins community leaders and industry partners to kick off the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) annual conference to help children and families in Chicago’s south side.

In a joint-effort between AEC Cares, USG, Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) of Chicago, Reed Construction Data and Hanley Wood, projectChicago will renovate a 30-year-old building on Chicago’s south side (5338 S. Loomis Blvd.) that provides daycare and early learning for infants, toddlers and preschoolers from low-income families.

As the platinum sponsor of AEC Cares’ “projectChicago” building blitz, USG, through its philanthropic USG Foundation, has donated $10,000, as well as ceiling tiles and other building materials that will be used in the renovation. USG employees will also join more 150 volunteers who are participating in the building’s re-design and renovation process.

“We are excited about the volunteers coming to the Learning and Wellness Center and the work they'll be doing to update the building,” said Reginald Frazier, a parent with a child who attends the Pre-K/Early-Learning Program at Metropolitan Family Services’ Learning and Wellness Center. “We really appreciate their time.”
