CRAWLEY, England--()--Edwards’ employees are getting behind their colleagues in Brazil to support a charity for disadvantaged children in São Paolo. Inspired by the World Cup, the Edwards’ Champions initiative encourages employees in all of Edwards’ offices worldwide to contribute in a variety of ways to raise money for the children’s charity.

Based in São Paolo, the charity ‘De Olho no Futuro’ (Keeping an Eye on the Future) was chosen by employees of Edwards in Brazil. The charity helps disadvantaged children aged between 6 and 14, and aims to help them integrate into society and the job market. The charity, which aims not to remove the children from their families but to support their growth, offers support to around 128 children - including providing meals and clean, warm water for showers.

Funds raised by Edwards’ employees should allow the charity to provide important equipment such as kitchen tools, security gates, chairs and books for the children. Edwards’ offices across the world are planning a variety of different events to raise money, based around the World Cup theme. These include management versus staff football matches, sweepstakes, various sponsored events and a ‘wear your football kit to work day’. In addition, all donations raised by the employees will be matched by the company.

“Edwards’ Brazil employees are proud that the World Cup is being held in their country and they are passionate about football - this passion is inspiring an amazing sense of teamwork across Edwards. It is fantastic to see our colleagues worldwide supporting disadvantaged children locally here in São Paolo,” commented Flavio Cantanhede, Country Head, Edwards Brazil.

At the end of the fundraising campaign, a group of employees from Edwards in São Paolo will be visiting the charity and volunteering their time with the children. “I think social responsibility is very important for large companies, and people as well should follow this great example and contribute”, said Matheus Andrade, Sales Technician Assistant at Edwards, Brazil.
