CINCINNATI--()--After weeks of painstaking work, Susan Brennan from Orchard Lake, MI was named the winner of the 10th Annual Cheap Chic Weddings Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, developed by Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com and supported in part by Charmin. In honor of the contest’s 10th anniversary, ten finalists were flown to New York City to showcase their exquisite work—each vying for the grand prize of $10,000.

Celebrity judge Kate Pankoke, bridal couture designer and Project Runway Season 11 and 12 contestant, helped select the winner at the contest finale event on Haven Rooftop at The Sanctuary Hotel in Manhattan earlier today. Contestants crafted dresses out of nothing more than Charmin toilet paper, tape, glue and/or needle and thread, and this year, more than 1,490 entrants were up to the challenge.

“As a designer who specializes in bridal, I was particularly impressed with the level of creativity the ten finalists brought to their dresses,” says Pankoke. “It was incredible to see how they used Charmin toilet paper to create soft and sturdy gowns that are as beautiful as those made from fine fabrics, and Susan’s dress was stunning!”

Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com, which operates as a money-saving website for brides-to-be, began the annual contest ten years ago based on the popular bridal shower game. As the contest has increased in popularity from year to year, so has the level of competition. This year, the contest is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

“We are continually amazed by the talent our contestants display,” says Susan Bain, co-founder of Cheap Chic Weddings. “This year’s entries featured extraordinary fashion elements including embroidery, pleating, beads and lace!” added partner Laura Gawne.

This marks the fourth time Charmin has partnered in the contest and provided coupons for contest entrants to help cover the cost of purchasing the rolls of Charmin used in creating each dress. Designers used between two and 40 rolls of Charmin Basic, Charmin Ultra Soft, Charmin Ultra Strong, and even a vintage Charmin product from the 1970s.

“Charmin is delighted to participate and see all the creative ways our Charmin products are transformed into stunning pieces of art,” says Laura Dressman, Charmin Communications Manager. “The 10th anniversary of this contest is a great way to celebrate our fun and playful brand heritage. Congratulations to Susan and all the finalists on their beautiful designs.”

Susan Brennan was joined at the finale event by the other nine contest finalists. Runner-up Katrina Chalifoux from Knoxville, TN received a check for $5,000, and third place winner Amber Mills from Hurst, TX received a check for $2,500.
