NEW YORK--()--The global legal practice of Norton Rose Fulbright announced today the election of Linda L. Addison as its US Managing Partner. Addison has been serving in this role since December 2013, when Kenneth L. Stewart took a medical leave of absence from the position to deal with cardiovascular issues. Stewart recently returned full-time to Norton Rose Fulbright in the new position of non-executive US Chair.

As a result of this election, Addison will remain as Chair of the US Management Committee, the eighth person and first woman to hold this position. She also will continue to serve as a member of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Global Executive Committee. Addison was previously Norton Rose Fulbright's Global Head of Dispute Resolution and Litigation following the June 2013 combination of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP and Norton Rose.

Peter Martyr, Global Chief Executive, Norton Rose Fulbright, commented:

“Linda will continue to provide outstanding direction in this important leadership position. She has played a critical role in the establishment of Norton Rose Fulbright as a worldwide leader in today’s competitive legal marketplace.”

Addison, who is responsible for Norton Rose Fulbright’s US operations and strategy, said:

“I am honored that my partners have entrusted me to lead our US practice and to help shape the future of Norton Rose Fulbright. As Managing Partner, I am committed to maintaining our culture and providing our lawyers with the support to provide superior legal service. We will continue to use our depth of legal experience and geographic reach to benefit our clients throughout the US and around the world.”

Addison was recognized as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in New York” by Crain’s New York Business on each of the publication’s two most recent lists. The National Law Journal named Addison one of the “50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America” and one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.” Lawdragon magazine described Addison as “one of the nation’s smartest, most respected litigators, posing an intimidating presence in all manners of complex civil litigation.”

Addison received the American Bar Association’s Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award, which recognizes the accomplishments of women lawyers who have achieved professional excellence and paved the way to success for other women, and The University of Texas Distinguished Alumnus Award, the highest alumni award given by The University of Texas at Austin.

Recognized as a strategic thinker, Addison co-chaired the New York State Bar Association’s Task Force on the Future of the Legal Profession. She is a Founder and Immediate Past President of the Center for Women in Law.

The daughter of two Holocaust survivors who immigrated to America in 1946 after surviving Nazi concentration camps, Addison spoke only Polish until she entered Kindergarten at age five. After graduating from The University of Texas School of Law in 1976, Addison was determined to become a successful trial lawyer despite being told by many law firms that litigation was not a suitable career path for women. Unwavering in her focus, Addison joined Fulbright & Jaworski LLP because the firm gave her that opportunity.

Prior to beginning his term as Chair of the US Management Committee on Jan. 1, 2013, Stewart was Partner-in-Charge of the Dallas office from 2004-2012. A certified public accountant and a seasoned counselor, he has more than 30 years of experience in almost every aspect of corporate law. As Chair of the US Management Committee, Stewart played an important role in the combination to become Norton Rose Fulbright.
