Jacobs Gaining Traction in Telecommunications Industry

Recent Acquisitions Boost Strengths

PASADENA, Calif.--()--Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced that it is seeing significant activity in the telecommunications sector. Since January 2014, Jacobs has been selected for new work with a number of major U.S. wireless carriers, tower companies, and public sector agencies representing contract values totaling over $80 million.

Jacobs’ scope of work under the terms of these contracts includes self-perform turnkey field construction work; operations and maintenance support; wireless network deployment/emergency management support for four public agencies; and expanded site acquisition and engineering support.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Patrick Hill stated, “For our clients in the telecommunication industry, providing connectivity and speed for their customers are key concerns. We realize that the rapid advancement and innovation in this space require carriers to think differently about how they build and enhance their infrastructure. Our goal is to provide more than just high quality project services, but to partner with our telecom clients to address their current and future needs by offering them a sustainable business model that includes the cost effective rapid deployment of new technology with a focus on safety in the field.”

Jacobs is enhancing and expanding its telecom capabilities, an initiative supported by the recent acquisitions of Compass Technology Services and FMHC Corporation, which enable Jacobs to provide a broad suite of services to this fast-growing sector. In building its world class telecommunication capability, Jacobs balances a strong self-performance construction workforce with the ability to manage large national programs across multiple markets; delivering a consistent and highly qualified workforce to carriers.

In addition, Jacobs’ enhanced telecom capabilities are expected to benefit its entire client base, as data capacity and coverage are key considerations in projects that Jacobs executes for clients across a range of industries, such as buildings and infrastructure.

Jacobs is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical professional and construction services.
