Playtabase Unveils Reemo in First U.S. Demonstration at San Francisco’s Solid Conference

Wearable tech bracelet facilitates independence and home control through gesture

O’Reilly Solid Conference

SAN FRANCISCO--()--This week, Playtabase™ will sponsor O’Reilly Solid Conference and will host their first domestic demonstration of Reemo™, a wearable device that allows users to control appliances and home automation systems with gestures rather than remotes or mobile phone apps.

Reemo is worn as a bracelet and uses intuitive, motion-based commands to operate everything from lights and thermostats to home entertainment systems, and can even be used to guide a cursor across a screen like a traditional desktop mouse.

Playtabase CEO and co-founder Muhammad Abdurrahman was inspired to create Reemo after he witnessed his father struggle with everyday tasks following a series of debilitating strokes.

While the inspiration for Reemo was to make the physical world more accessible and interactive for individuals with disabilities or other mobility limitations, the wearable technology also creates a connected environment - “The Clickable World™” - that a broader audience can appreciate.

“We see Reemo as a new evolution in wearable technology and ubiquitous computing - an interface for networked environments,” explained Abdurrahman. “More than just a piece of hardware, Reemo is a purposefully designed central hub that enables intuitive control of the electronics around you.”

Reemo was also one of 30 products selected to compete in the Spark tech startup event at Collision Conference, hosted in Las Vegas earlier this month. However, Solid Conference marks the first time Reemo will be demonstrated live to U.S. media and tech enthusiasts.

“We’re very excited to demonstrate how Reemo can empower anyone with seamless control of the devices around them and maximize their control of an environment in new, innovative ways,” Abdurrahman concluded.

In addition to being featured on stage by conference speakers, Playtabase will showcase Reemo’s point-and-gesture interface in booth #P3 on May 21-22.
