Edwards’ expert Anke Teeuwsen is presenting a technical paper at the conference, “Advantageous Optimization of the VOD Process with Mechanical Vacuum Pumps” which discusses how replacing steam ejector pumps with mechanical vacuum pumps can lead to significant cost reduction and to the possibility of automation of decarburisation, thereby achieving better process control.
Increasingly mechanical dry pumps are replacing traditional steam ejectors as the vacuum technology of choice. Lower running costs, higher pumping speeds, minimal maintenance and lower environmental impact all lend weight to the case for mechanical dry pumps. The savings in energy costs from using dry mechanical pumps are high compared to steam ejectors.
