Twitch Named Best Games Related Website for 3rd Consecutive Year in 18th Annual Webby Awards

Twitch tops shortlist for international awards honoring best of web; brand sweeps both the official Webby Award and People’s Voice in the Best Games Related category

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Twitch, the world’s leading video platform and community for gamers, today announced it has been named the Best Games Related website in the 18th Annual Webby Awards. This marks Twitch’s first time being selected as a Webby Award winner by the official judges and the third time it has won the People’s Voice category. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.

“This award belongs to the Twitch community,” said Matthew DiPietro, VP of Marketing, Twitch. “Twitch’s success is based on its millions of passionate gamers who come together everyday to broadcast, watch and share gameplay. It’s their efforts who have aligned our brand with companies like Hulu, Netflix and Facebook, so this Webby speaks volumes.”

Since launching in June 2011, Twitch now reaches 45 million visitors a month, with the average visitor spending 106 minutes a day on the site. Twitch also features more than one million broadcasters which has benefited from the platform’s presence on Xbox One, the all-in-one gaming and entertainment system from Microsoft Corp., and PlayStation®4 (PS4™) system, Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) next generation computer entertainment system.
