Cute Baby! Photo Drawing to Award More Than $10,000 in NEST 529 Scholarships

Drawing winners to get an early start on college savings

OMAHA, Neb.--()--Nebraska’s 529 College Savings Plans (NEST), First National Bank of Omaha and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg announced today the Cute Baby! Photo Drawing running now through June 1, offering more than $10,000 in NEST 529 College Savings scholarships to randomly drawn winners.

The Cute Baby! Photo Drawing gives families across the United States the opportunity to submit photos of their babies ages newborn to 18 months as of April 22, 2014. By uploading a photo and providing basic contact information, the family will be registered to win. To enter and read official rules, families can go to NEST529Scholarships.com.

“The NEST Cute Baby! Photo Drawing provides an exciting opportunity for families to get a head start on college savings for their bundles of joy,” said Deborah Goodkin, Managing Director of NEST at First National Bank of Omaha, the NEST Program Manager. “Our hope is that people enjoy all these adorable photos and start thinking early about saving for college.”

“Our goal is to encourage young families to begin saving for higher education expenses when their children are newborns and toddlers. By starting to save when children are very young, families develop the habit of saving for the higher education needs of their children. And they are able to accumulate substantial savings as their children grow,” State Treasurer Stenberg said.

The Cute Baby! Photo Drawing includes four rounds of winners that will be randomly drawn. The first three rounds of drawings will provide NEST 529 scholarships of $50, $100 and $200 to one winner each. The winners will be drawn from all valid entries every two weeks on May 5, May 19 and June 2. The Grand Prize winners will be drawn from all valid entries submitted throughout the contest period. These prizes, drawn on June 6, will offer NEST scholarships of $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000 to one winner each. Annually, NEST awards more than $100,000 to families inside and outside of Nebraska through a number of scholarship initiatives.

The NEST Cute Baby! Photo Drawing is inspired by the NEST Baby campaign, which is designed to get families of little ones thinking about the future and saving for higher education to help make their children’s dreams a reality. Money for the prizes is being provided by First National Bank of Omaha.
