SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Twistory Entertainment Studios today announced the appointment of Karl R. Wolfe as President of the Company. Wolfe, a long-time executive mentor and business consultant for the entertainment industry, joined Twistory in late 2012 as Chief Creative Director.
Twistory Entertainment is a forward-looking studio that connects publication (written and graphic storytelling), digital film and video games to create compelling brands across all platforms that are driven by great stories. Twistory was founded in 2009 by film director and graphic novel writer Christopher “mink” Morrison (Dust, Into the Sun), with the concept, “Where Story Meets Art.”
“Karl’s leadership, creativity and technical expertise have been key to creating our vision of Twistory as the model studio of the future; vertically integrated, versatile but small enough to be nimble and highly productive,” said Twistory founder Christopher “mink” Morrison. “Our goal from the outset was to create an environment in which our artistic innovators supersede the current revenue-driven studio models through the opportunity to speak their voice, define and express their artistic soul and use that to drive our product. Karl Wolfe has been instrumental in implementing our philosophy that art, beauty and creativity leads, which is what gives our products life.”
Wolfe has served as a consultant to executives and projects at top studios such as Warner Bros., MGM, Paramount, Universal, major television networks and music companies as well as to recording artists, major law firms and medical institutions. Earlier in his career, Wolfe, who owns more than 30 patents, was Manager of Engineering at a subsidiary of the Atlantic Richfield Company in New York and Director of Marketing and Design with a high technology company in San Francisco specializing in industrial automation. He is co-author of the best-selling book, titled The Success Secret, The World’s Leading Experts Reveal Their Secrets for Success and Life. Wolfe holds a duel degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Electronics Engineering from the University of Buffalo and a PhD in the Philosophy of Religion. He is also certified in mediation by the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Twistory Entertainment Studios will release their new video game Ouch Couch featuring internet sensations the Janoskians on April 22, 2014, bringing world famous pranksters Jai, James, Beau, Daniel and Luke to the touch screen with a gaming experience not seen since the days of the arcades. Twistory also recently released the video game Belle’s War, based on the studio’s 13 Chambers graphic novel series. Set in the fantasy Wild West of the 1860’s – Belle’s War stars the world’s sexiest time-traveling super-heroine. It’s “War,” the original card battle game, revved up, Old West style, for iOS phones and tablets. Belle: The Film, starring Danielle Vasinova (To Hell with a Bullet, White Trash Noir), is in development. The children’s book Belle's Handbook of Life, the first in a series of thirteen written and created by Wolfe and Morrison was published by the studio in October 2013.
Shinjuku is also a principal Twistory brand, including the stunning graphic art novel Shinjuku, for which writer and director Morrison and legendary artist Yoshitaka Amano (Final Fantasy, Vampire Hunter D) joined forces. Shinjuku: The Film is a feature length animated adaptation of the graphic art novel that is directed and illustrated by acclaimed animation artist and director Robert Valley (The Gorillaz music videos, MTV’s Aeon Flux).
Other Twistory brands include the groundbreaking World War II adventure graphic series Dust Wars, by storywriter Morrison and Italian illustrator and designer Paolo Parente (Dark Horse Comics’ Starship Troopers: Insect Touch, Marvel Comics’ Conan: Return of Styrm); and the forthcoming children’s series Paper Girls.
