BERLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHS Inc. (NYSE:IHS), a leading global source of critical information and insight, today announced that Dr. Nariman Behravesh, IHS chief economist, will deliver the keynote address at the IHS Forum in Berlin on 12 May.
According to Steen Lomholt-Thomsen, senior vice president at IHS for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Forum will bring together top IHS experts who will provide outlook across industry sectors and also, the business impact of current affairs such as European-Russian relations.
“As many European economies recover, businesses are returning to Western Europe and looking for investment opportunities,” he said. Still, some are troubled by the loss of European competitiveness. It is key for us to outline the opportunities and pathways to industry executives and help them see the big picture, make crucial connections and gain invaluable insights.”
Said Behravesh: “I’m delighted to open the Berlin Forum with a global economic outlook and share with business leaders insights that will drive their decisions. Among the topics of discussion will be the fact that Europe sees a solid, albeit anemic recovery,” he said. “Recent data on the Eurozone confirm that the recovery has legs, and the unemployment rate has edged down below 12 percent. While last year’s growth depended heavily on consumer spending, 2014 growth will be more broadly based.”
Behravesh ranked as one of Bloomberg's Top 10 economists for 2009 and 2010 is the author of Spin-Free Economics: A No-Nonsense, Nonpartisan Guide to Today's Global Economic Debates (McGraw-Hill). Directing the entire economic forecasting process at IHS, he is responsible for developing the economic outlook and risk analysis for the United States, Europe, Japan, China and other emerging markets. He oversees the global work of more than 400 professionals who cover economic, financial and political developments in over 200 countries.
