Virgin Pulse Launches Institute with Focus on Helping Employees and Companies Thrive

Evidence-Based Research Organization Will Tackle Top Workplace Issues Related to Health, Well-Being, and Employee Engagement

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--Virgin Pulse, the market leader in the rapidly-growing employee health engagement category, today announced the launch of the Virgin Pulse Institute, an evidence-based organization that puts research to work to help employees and companies thrive. The Virgin Pulse Institute, led by Jennifer Turgiss, DrPH, MS conducts research to advance knowledge on various workforce topics, including health, well-being and employee engagement. The Virgin Pulse Institute’s first research report, “Asleep on the Job: The Causes and Consequences of Employees’ Disrupted Sleep and How Employers Can Help,” was released today.

The Virgin Pulse Institute was formed to help employers find scalable, data-driven, consumer-centric solutions to workforce issues organizations face today. The Institute will partner with leading researchers and organizations focused on these critical topic areas to identify evidence- and practice-based solutions that go well beyond traditional approaches and cost-savings.

“The wellness industry has historically focused on physical health – things like health assessments and biometric screenings – and these traditional models have been taken as far as they can go. The industry knows it needs to find new comprehensive solutions that address the determinants of health and well-being in order to have high performing, highly engaged workforces,” said Dr. Jennifer Turgiss, Director of the Virgin Pulse Institute. “Change is happening and the industry’s heading in a new direction. The goal of the Virgin Pulse Institute is to use science- and practice-based evidence to identify, analyze and offer more comprehensive and fresh solutions to the problems today’s employers face, and ultimately help employees and employers thrive.”

The Virgin Pulse Institute will look closely at issues such as sleep, stress, nutrition and financial health and how they affect employees and their companies. Dr. Turgiss will work with Virgin Pulse Institute staff and research partners to contribute timely, data-driven content to advance knowledge in the fields of workplace health, well-being and employee engagement.
