Online Program Development Expands in UMass System

23 New Online Programs Launched in FY 14

SHREWSBURY, Mass.--()--23 new online degrees and certificates have been added to the vast UMass program catalog expanding the scope of online offerings to meet the increasing demand for online education. UMassOnline provides marketing, technology and other support services for online programming originating from the five UMass campuses. The five UMass campuses are leading the online education community with innovative online learning and teaching as well as meeting the University's mission to make a quality UMass education more accessible.

“Program development is a key strategy for continued growth,” says UMassOnline Chief Executive Officer Dr. John Cunningham. “The UMass campuses designed and developed the new offerings focused on in-demand areas such as business, education and health sciences, and have created the programs for adult students looking to complete their college degrees or advance their careers.”

Online Programs Continue to Increase from UMass Campuses

About Programs

For FY14, the UMass campuses launched 23 new online programs. With more online degree programs in the pipeline for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, UMass will only continue to grow and meet the needs of students around the world as well as address the demands of a global economy and evolving job market.

  • UMass Amherst introduced nine new degrees and certificates including a Bachelor of Arts with four different concentrations to choose from: Applied Psychology, Writing, Human Services and Health Studies; General Business Studies Certificate; Sustainable Business Practice Certificate; Master of Science in Engineering Management; McCormack Sport Management Graduate Certificate; and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Leadership and Management. Additionally, a new Healthcare Administration focus area has been added to the Isenberg MBA Online program as well as new specialization in Adult Gerontology in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.
  • UMass Boston developed four new offerings including a Graduate Certificate in International Development; Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics; Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Informatics and a Bachelor of Arts in Global Affairs.
  • UMass Dartmouth launched three new degree programs including the Master’s Degree in Business Administration – The Charlton Online MBA Program, the MS in Computer Science from the College of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in General Business Administration. In addition, the Liberal Studies Program was expanded to include six concentrations-English Literature, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies.
  • UMass Lowell expanded their vast offerings to include six new online programs in FY14, consisting of a Bachelor of Arts in English; Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics; Master of Science in Security Studies: Cyber Security Concentration and a Master of Arts in Security Studies: Homeland Defense Concentration.
