KATY, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined GEICO's Chairman Tony Nicely and Berkshire Hathaway's Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett today to celebrate the grand opening of GEICO's new claims operation in Katy, Texas. Some 340 new associates cheered on as Perry, Nicely and Buffett cut the ribbon on the 138,000-square-foot office, located at 21420 Merchants Way in Katy, Texas.

That’s why days like today are such a pleasure, as we celebrate both the hundreds of jobs this facility has already created, and the hundreds more to come. At an event in December attended by Gov. Perry, GEICO announced the office opening and revealed it hoped to hire as many as 400 associates by 2015 and up to 1,000 associates within three years. GEICO chairman Tony Nicely said he was very pleased that the company was already approaching the preliminary hiring goal just four months later.
"The reception GEICO has received here in Katy and in the greater Houston area has just been phenomenal," Nicely said. "We are already getting close to reaching a hiring goal we had set for 2015, solely because there are so many hard-working, dedicated professionals in this area who want to build fulfilling careers.
