Bolton Joins Energen Resources as VP-Land

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--David Bolton has been elected by the Energen Corporation (NYSE: EGN) Board of Directors as Vice President – Land for the company’s oil and gas exploration and production unit, Energen Resources Corporation. The company is focused on the exploration and development of its oil and natural gas liquids assets in the Permian Basin.

Bolton comes to Energen Resources from Chesapeake Energy Corporation which he served as Southern Division Land Director. Since May 2010, Bolton coordinated all of Chesapeake’s Land activities in the Permian District as well as the South Texas, Haynesville, Barnett, and Mid-continent districts and in New Ventures for the Western United States. Bolton succeeds Paul C. Rote, who recently retired after serving the company for some 15 years.

Bolton has worked in the exploration and production industry since 1990 and has held various senior Land positions including Director of Business Development for Sullivan Land Resources, Executive Vice President of Land for Quest Resource Corporation, and Land Manager for Continental Resources.

A native of Oklahoma, Bolton earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He is a Certified Professional Landman and a member of the Association of Petroleum Landmen, the Permian Basin Landman’s Association, the American Bar Association, and the Energy Bar Association.
