GfK’s Lange to Present on Pet Specialty Channel Trends at Petfood Forum

Petfood Forum 2014

NEW YORK--()--Maria Lange, Senior Product Manager for GfK’s Retail and Technology team, will share insights on the US petfood marketplace at Petfood Forum this morning. Her General Session presentation will help set the themes for the conference, which continues through tomorrow at the Renaissance Schaumburg in Schaumburg, IL.

GfK’s Retail and Technology practice collects point-of-sale (POS) information in over 11,000 pet outlets throughout the US – neighborhood shops, “superstores,” veterinary clinics, and feed stores. Drawing on this unique data, Lange will provide a picture of

  • how retail and volume sales are trending,
  • which petfood categories are growing,
  • who the major petfood players are in US pet specialty, and
  • trends likely to impact future sales and growth.

"Natural products, changing distribution models, and online shopping are just three trends dramatically affecting the petfood industry right now,” said Lange. “By tracking and analyzing data from a broad sample of pet outlets, we can see how the market is shifting, and even speculate on what will happen in the coming months. The result is smarter marketing decisions and a more informed marketplace overall. I am excited to be sharing GfK’s insights with the PFF audience, and to see what others have learned in the past year.”

The Petfood Forum brings together industry experts on pet nutrition, petfood processing, safety, marketing, and other topics. The 2013 edition drew attendees from over 30 countries.
