SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To help homebuyers organize upcoming open houses, Redfin (www.redfin.com), the technology-powered real estate brokerage, has launched the “Open House Schedule” feature for its website and iPhone app. With this feature, people can easily keep track of all the open houses they want to attend by saving a list that includes the date, time and location of each open house automatically organized by date and time for viewing on a PC, mobile phone or printed page. With the highest number of open houses on average happening in April, May and June, now is the time for homebuyers to ensure they’re ready to hit the streets.
“Redfin is unique in that our engineers work side by side with our real estate agents to determine how we can make buying and selling better for our clients,” said Bridget Frey, vice president of engineering at Redfin. “Our agents saw that planning a weekend of open houses was a slow and manual process for clients, so our engineers invented a great solution.”
After spotting a home with an open house on Redfin.com, home shoppers can select “Add to Open House Schedule” to save it under their profile. They can then print the list of open houses or pull it up on the Redfin app on the iPhone. The app also helps iPhone users get directions to the next home on their list with just a couple of taps.
“I always recommend to my clients that they go to as many open houses as they can, even before they are serious about buying,” said Bree Al-Rashid, a Redfin real estate agent in Seattle. “It’s a great way to get a sense for what homes cost in their area, and their likes and dislikes – and now with the new Open House Schedule, it’s easier to plan than ever.”
The Open House Schedule is one more way Redfin is making it easier to shop for homes from a mobile device. Other features of the Redfin iPhone app include:
- Home search: Easily find homes for sale in a specific neighborhood, city, ZIP code or school zone. Since Redfin is a real estate brokerage, the app provides information from local multiple listing services, which means it has 20 percent more homes for sale than other non-brokerage real estate applications, and it is updated more frequently.
- Instant alerts: Home shoppers can sign up to receive alerts about their favorite homes or specific searches, so they’ll never miss a home that just hit the market in their desired area, or a price drop on a home they’re interested in purchasing.
- Insider home details. Redfin real estate agents are out touring homes every day, and they provide their insights about the homes they see on Redfin.com and the Redfin app. These “tour insights” provide insider information that home shoppers can’t find anywhere else: if the home is on a busy street, when it appears to have been remodeled last or if it has a great view, for example.
- Home tour requests. Home shoppers can schedule a tour of a home directly from the app. To request a tour, they can just tap the “Add to Tour List” button, and then choose a date and time. A Redfin representative will then get in touch with them to confirm the tour.
