Packet Design CTO to Discuss SDN Management Challenges at 2014 MPLS SDN World Congress

Presentation will cover new analytics technologies needed to mitigate SDN management and performance risks across the WAN

MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2014

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Packet Design CTO Cengiz Alaettinoglu will speak during the “Performance and Management” track at the 2014 MPLS SDN World Congress taking place March 18-21 in Paris. He will address the management challenges of software defined networking (SDN), where the programmable, automated network environment renders traditional, manual management methods insufficient. To put some visibility and control back into the hands of network operators, he will discuss the need for real-time analytics and present the idea of a network access broker (NAB). The NAB would verify if the wide area network (WAN) has the required resources to handle the traffic demands of SDN applications without negatively impacting other applications.

Session Title:Real-Time Analytics and Policy Management for Software Defined Networking

Session Description:

North-bound SDN APIs allow creation of network-aware applications. Cloud and data center applications have successfully taken advantage of these APIs to provide seamless virtual machine mobility and elasticity. However, these applications are unaware of whether or not the underlying WAN can provide acceptable performance. In this presentation, Cengiz will introduce the concept of a network access broker, an analytics and policy management layer that provides this information.

Date and Time: Friday, March 21, 11:10 a.m. GMT

Packet Design is a silver sponsor of the conference and will be exhibiting in booth #401. For more information about the 2014 MPLS SDN World Congress, visit http://www.uppersideconferences.com/mpls2014/mpls2014introduction.html.

About Packet Design

Founded in 2003, Packet Design has pioneered the complex science of route analytics to address today’s network management challenges. The Route Explorer System monitors network-wide routing and traffic, providing operational alerts to failures and anomalies. Analyses and DVR-like replay capabilities speed troubleshooting, and routing and traffic modeling helps network planners predict the impact of changes and new workloads. Packet Design’s unique real-time routing intelligence will be a critical enabler for the programmable and dynamic software defined networks of the future. The world’s largest telecommunications companies, mobile providers, MSOs, service providers, enterprises and government agencies use the Route Explorer System to improve network availability and performance while maximizing the return on assets.
