COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Roetzel & Andress is proud to announce that Matt Austin has joined the Columbus office as a partner in the firm’s Employment Services Group. Mr. Austin represents companies against labor unions and OSHA while also maintaining a vibrant employment law practice.

Mr. Austin has established a strong regional reputation as a skilled management-side labor lawyer for both unionized and non-union corporations. He guides companies through union avoidance training, election and decertification campaigns, negotiates collective bargaining agreements, and represents employers during grievances, arbitrations, and NLRB hearings. Mr. Austin’s OSHA practice, an outgrowth from his traditional labor work, involves helping companies remain compliant and defending them against OSHA investigations and litigation. He also has extensive experience handling employment-related matters including wage and hour compliance, workplace investigations, and litigation.
In addition to being a frequent lecturer and author, Mr. Austin is a contributing editor for the American Bar Association’s definitive labor law treatise, Developing Labor Law.
Mr. Austin serves on the executive board for the Ohio State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section, is chair of the Columbus Bar Association’s Judicial Campaign Advertising Committee, and immediate past-chair of the annual “Midwest Labor and Employment Law Conference,” which brings over 500 labor and employment attorneys to Columbus, Ohio for a two-day continuing legal education seminar each year.
Mr. Austin earned his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, in political science and foreign policy from The Ohio State University. He was selected as an “Ohio Rising Star” in the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 editions of Ohio Super Lawyers®.
