SAN FRANCISCO--()--Dr. Arne Boudewyn, a veteran of Abbot Downing and Wells Fargo with more than 20 years of experience as a researcher, educator and consultant to ultra-high-net-worth families, has been named head of Family Dynamics and Education for Abbot Downing. With $36.9 billion in client assets and a 40-year history serving ultra-high-net-worth clients, Abbot Downing is part of Wells Fargo’s Wealth, Brokerage and Retirement group, a leading U.S. wealth manager, with $1.7 trillion in client assets.

Boudewyn and his team will work closely with the Abbot Downing team of professionals who provide planning, asset management, private banking, and trust, fiduciary and administrative services to the firm’s more than 600 clients.

“Clients look to us for help integrating core values into wealth planning and decision making, translating vision and mission statements into actionable solutions, and establishing effective forms of family governance,” says Boudewyn. “We place an emphasis on education and strategies for preparing clients and the next generation of leaders to manage the impact of their wealth, including as it pertains to current and future roles and responsibilities within the family and community.”

Abbot Downing’s highly credentialed Family Dynamics team, including four consultants with doctorate degrees in behavioral and social sciences, works with clients to develop strategies for communication, education and philanthropic giving. Abbot Downing, one of the first firms to create a family dynamics team more than a decade ago, is a pioneer in providing dedicated Family Dynamics and Education consulting services to clients.

“We’re seeing an increase in Family Dynamics and Education service requests from clients, which confirms the importance of going beyond traditional financial services to help clients address the personal and social impacts of significant wealth,” said Jack Ginter, senior managing director for Abbot Downing. “Clients are looking to Abbot Downing and our team of consultants to help develop cohesive dialogue within the family and perpetuate a healthy legacy for the people and communities they care about most.”

Boudewyn joined Wells Fargo in 2003 and has spent the better part of his career collaborating with executives, entrepreneurs, and ultra-high-net-worth clients on strategies for enhancing human, intellectual and social capital. Prior to joining Wells Fargo and Abbot Downing, Boudewyn served in a strategic consulting role at Kaiser Permanente and held clinical, research and teaching appointments at the University of California at San Francisco; California State University, San Francisco; the University of Massachusetts, Boston; and Harvard Medical School. His research publications have appeared in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health, Journal of Health Psychology and Annals of Behavioral Medicine.

He holds a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts and completed multi-year fellowships at both the University of California at San Francisco and Harvard Medical School. In addition to holding memberships with the Family Office Exchange (FOX) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), he is a member of the board of directors for Meals on Wheels of San Francisco. Boudewyn succeeds Dr. Pat Armstrong, who, with more than 24 years of experience in leadership roles at Wells Fargo and Abbot Downing, will continue to provide Family Dynamics and Education consulting services to the firm’s clients as a senior consultant.
