Research and Markets: Fruit Juices, Energy & Juice Drinks Market Update 2014 Report

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/ncdtdw/fruit_juices) has announced the addition of the "Fruit Juices, Energy & Juice Drinks Market Update 2014" report to their offering.

This Market Update covers the UK market for three key soft drinks subsectors fruit juices, juice drinks and energy drinks. Each category contains a very wide range of products with something to appeal to almost all consumers. Products are popular and available in a range of price categories.

This report examines value growth of each category and finds that all have displayed value growth, while total volume sales declined in 2012 and 2013. Value growth is in part due to rising production costs, which include commodity price hikes.

While all three subsectors are popular, energy drinks are particularly resilient. The category has displayed outstanding growth despite a challenging economic context and mounting concerns regarding the health implications of energy drinks consumption. Conversely, growing concerns regarding the effect on health of fruit juice and smoothies may well undermine sales of these categories in the future.

Economic crisis has had a mixed impact on these sectors. All three contain products which carry fairly high price tags, meaning that some shoppers have grown to regard them as unaffordable luxuries. On the other hand, some consumers have abandoned nights out in favour of nights in with high quality food and drink, a trend which has favoured sales of premium comestibles.

Market saturation is a threat to all soft drinks sectors. Penetration for soft drinks is extremely high and it is becoming harder to add new ideas to the already vast product range which currently exists. Despite, and indeed because of this situation, NPD is essential. It is expected to remain focused on an ever growing demand for convenient, healthy and environmentally friendly products, packaging and [production methods. An emphasis on locally produced, artisan' products is expected to play a strong role in future, particularly as a viable entrance to the sector for smaller, newer firms.

This report forecasts growth for all three sectors between 2014 and 2018, with energy drinks continuing to defy health scares to edge yet more market share from their competitors.
