SAS Ranks No. 2 on 2014 Fortune List of Best Companies to Work For in the US

Satisfied customers are result of award-winning workplace culture

CARY, N.C.--()--Business analytics leader SAS has continued its uninterrupted run on Fortune magazine's list of 100 Best Companies to Work For in the US. Marking its 11th time in the top 10, SAS ranks No. 2 this year for its challenging work, empowering leadership and great workplace environment.

On the list yearly since its 1998 inception, SAS attracts and keeps creative employees because doing so directly contributes to consistent revenue growth, profitability and industry-leading products and solutions. SAS CEO Jim Goodnight firmly believes that happy employees create happy customers. “In our industry, rapid innovation and extreme customer care are essential,” said Goodnight. “The best way to make that happen is by supporting people. We have spent decades perfecting a culture and work environment that encourages creativity by addressing the day-to-day stresses and concerns that employees inevitably bring to work.”

“A good portion of our ranking is determined by an employee survey,” said Jenn Mann, SAS Vice President of Human Resources. “Our employees feel SAS is a great place to work. Our culture and work environment make our employees feel valued. Our employees feel good about the products they create, enjoy the people they work with and take pride in the company they work for.”

The philosophy works. SAS' employee turnover rate remains extraordinarily low: 3.6 percent versus an industry norm of more than 15 percent. By reducing turnover, SAS reduces recruitment costs, retains knowledge and builds deeper, longer-term customer relationships.

“The companies on this list understand the role that people and culture play in their success,” offered China Gorman, CEO of Great Place to Work. “A great workplace culture and high-trust work environment win these companies not just a spot on this list, but buoys their overall success in an increasingly competitive marketplace.”

Last year, SAS ranked No. 2 on the elite Top 25 World's Best Multinational Workplaces list from Great Place to Work® as well as No. 2 among Fortune’s 2013 Best Companies to Work For in the US. SAS was No. 1 on the US list in 2010 and 2011.
