Organization’s Broad Transit Infrastructure Focus Brings Deep Insight Into Transit Operations

MUNICH--()--Continuing to build momentum in India, the Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT™) Alliance today announced that Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd. (DIMTS), an urban transport and infrastructure development company, has joined as an Associate Member. DIMTS, with its focus on transit infrastructure and management, has expertise in implementing new operations solutions for existing deployments.

“We are pleased to welcome DIMTS to the OSPT Alliance,” said Laurent Cremer, executive director for the OSPT Alliance. “With experience that spans everything from bus and train services to new, ‘green’ bicycle transit services, DIMTS offers a progressive perspective on the opportunities for electronic ticketing, automated fare collection, and cycle rental solutions.”

DIMTS is committed to providing reliable, safe, accessible, user-friendly and sustainable public transport. It aims to provide public transit within walking distance for commuters, while implementing highly scalable solutions to keep pace with growth in demand. The organization provides expertise for concept to commissioning, as well as operations, management, and maintenance services. Today, DIMTS is working on a diverse range of projects, including bus rapid transit, urban road transport, vehicle tracking, electronic ticketing, rail transport, transit hubs, cycle stations, street furniture, smart card applications, intelligent transport solutions, mobile applications that provide information on the expected arrival time of buses, congestion on roads as well ones that can convert mobiles into GPS-based security tracking device.

“We envision numerous opportunities for using secure, open standards to simplify our infrastructure and operational schemes while increasing our flexibility,” said S.N. Sahai, managing director and CEO, DIMTS. “We hope to leverage the CIPURSE open standard for several of our key projects with the view of creating highly agile, manageable transit infrastructure.”

DIMTS is the third Indian firm to join the OSPT Alliance. In September 2013, Kyros Soft Tech Ltd., a leading provider of smart card-enabled solutions, joined as a Full Member. The company has been delivering innovative smart card solutions for a wide range of customers and applications in India for well over a decade. Kyros also developed the first smart card operating systems for e-government applications in India. In addition, India’s UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Ltd. is also an Associate Member of the OSPT.

The OSPT Alliance offers the CIPURSE open security standard to address transit authorities’ need for future-proof fare collection systems with advanced security. As an open standard, CIPURSE promotes vendor neutrality and cross-vendor system interoperability with reduced technology adoption risks, higher quality and improved market responsiveness—all of which can result in lower operating costs and greater flexibility for transport system operators. CIPURSE also offers a global basis for rapidly migrating transit fare systems to NFC-enabled mobile phones and other devices, and the standard supports the adoption of NFC transit applications for a truly future-proof solution.
