Swedish Developer MAG Interactive Celebrates 50 Million Downloads with iPad Version of Global Hit Ruzzle

STOCKHOLM--()--MAG Interactive today announced that a version of Ruzzle designed specifically for iPad users is now available on the AppStore. Designed from the ground up for the larger screen format, Ruzzle’s feature set has also been expanded to include split screen multiplayer for simultaneous play on a single iPad, alongside new stats to allow players to track their best performances and an improved user interface to streamline navigation. The new version of the hugely popular word game is the first product to be released by MAG Interactive since the announcement last month of a funding round of $6m led by Nokia Growth Partners and is launched as the game hits a milestone of 50 million downloads.

“We have known for some time that our fans have been keen to play a version of Ruzzle designed specifically to take advantage of tablets – one in four already play Ruzzle on both iPhone and iPad and we expect this number to increase rapidly now there is an edition specifically optimised for the larger screen,” explained Daniel Hasselberg, CEO of MAG Interactive. “We’re excited to be able to introduce split-screen multiplayer just in time for the Holiday Season, when so many community members will be with friends and family and able to enjoy playing together on a single iPad. It would have been simple to provide just a hi-res version, but we wanted to take full advantage of the screen size and be creative about adding value for our loyal community.”

MAG Interactive today also revealed some geographical insights into the Ruzzle community. As you might expect, there are more Ruzzlers in the USA than anywhere else, but Italy has almost the same number of players despite having less than a fifth of the population, followed by France, the developer’s native country Sweden, and then the UK. Globally, Turkish players are the most enthusiastic, clocking up the most rounds per player, followed by neighbours Greece.

Ruzzle is an addictive, fast-paced puzzle game that challenges players to compete to find as many words as possible from a given set of letters on a four by four grid in two minutes by sliding a finger from letter to letter. Simple to learn but fiendishly difficult to master, Ruzzle can be played in 13 different languages and is available for free on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Amazon Kindle and Blackberry platforms.
