SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OneRoof Energy, Inc., a complete solar services provider, today announced the company won the Best in Smart Cities award for the Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA) 2013 Later Stage Award. GCCA, an international non-profit association that fosters cleantech cluster collaboration across the globe, named OneRoof Energy a Top 10 Winner representing the best of the association’s nearly 50 member clusters and more than 10,000 member companies. The GCCA Global Top 10 Winners were selected by 22 cleantech venture capital and private equity investors and serial entrepreneurs, who collectively manage over $3.5 billion in global clean technology investment. This year’s awards were organized by the Finnish Cleantech Cluster.
“OneRoof Energy is honored to be recognized by the esteemed GCCA and its diverse membership of cleantech trailblazers,” said David Field, president and chief executive officer, OneRoof Energy. “OneRoof Energy’s central mission is to make solar energy mainstream and accessible to homeowners across the US, from all economic circumstances. As we continue to work toward that mission, we are grateful for the support of the robust cleantech community in both San Diego and across the globe.”
OneRoof Energy was nominated for the GCCA Later Stage Award by CleanTECH San Diego in May 2013 for pioneering new classes of financing and services to make “going solar” easier and more affordable for average homeowners. The Global Top 10 were selected out of the 10,000 companies represented by the GCCA’s nearly 50 member clusters. In total, 160 companies were nominated by clusters as leading in their regions. That number was later narrowed to the Global Top 30 Semi-Finalists using the Keystone Method™, a business and venture development tool developed by GCCA Head Judge Dr. Peter Adriaens and CleanTech Acceleration Partners at the University of Michigan.
“OneRoof Energy is making significant strides in our market and well beyond as one of the fasting growing cleantech companies and is an impressive jobs engine,” said CleanTECH San Diego President & COO Holly Smithson. “They epitomize what the San Diego cleantech economy is known for in cleantech innovation and rapid market adoption. It comes as no surprise that their success is recognized on the global stage.”
