Shaping the Future of Renal Care – Diaverum Invests in Global Monitoring of Quality and Effectiveness of Care

Linkage of medical and procedural excellence as integral part of responsible thought leadership on integrated renal care.

MUNICH & LUND, Sweden--()--Diaverum, Europe’s largest product independent and one of the world’s leading renal care service providers, continuously invests in monitoring quality and effectiveness of care. Safeguarding a consistent and effective approach to healthcare services underlines Diaverum´s strict focus on improving quality of patients’ lives. Successfully driving ISO audits is also part of Diaverum’s holistic approach to renal care. Audits on ISO 9001 and 14001 certification are carried out by the accredited partner, Bureau Veritas. Seven countries — France, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and the UK — have so far successfully passed ISO 9001 and 14001 audits within the last months.

Diaverum has 20 years’ experience in the area of dialysis, going back to its time as part of Gambro — a Swedish healthcare specialist. The patient’s quality of life is at the centre of all activities. Fostering the idea of integrated renal patient care, aligning the high focus on medical quality, preventive care, management and the treatment of kidney disease, as well as its individual patient care focus make Diaverum unique. Being transparent and compliant is paying back on quality, efficiency and responsibility as a global player. Following international standards on environmental (ISO 14001) and procedural excellence (ISO 9001), as promoted throughout the ISO certification process, is a logical consequence and matter of responsibility.

“Committing ourselves to international standards is an integral part of target-group-oriented and transparent healthcare services. Shaping the future of renal care means taking responsibility in developing holistic solutions according to the demands of patients and society ,” states Dag Andersson, President and CEO of Diaverum.

Beatriz Bottner, SVP and Chief Quality & Business Processes Officer at Diaverum, is responsible for the successful global rollout of ISO 14001 and 9001 audits and compliance to ESG requirements. She explains how measurement and standardisation foster Diaverum´s strategic goals. “At Diaverum, our aim is to deliver best possible outcomes for our stakeholders. Process-monitoring and measuring effectiveness of care therefore are essential parts of Diaverum’s integrated care concept. Meeting international standards is not another piece of bureaucracy – it is a competitive edge.”

Diaverum has been working on the ISO certification process with Bureau Veritas since end of 2012. Several new Diaverum Countries will adhere to this programme, such as Germany and Romania in 2014, others will follow in the future.
