CES Unveiled NEW YORK 2013

STOCKHOLM & BOSTON--()--Tobii Assistive Technology, a division of the Tobii group, the global market leaders in eye tracking, today announced its recognition as an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree. The company was awarded in the Accessible Technologies category for its newly launched EyeMobile solution.

Tobii EyeMobile provides individuals afflicted with spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, arthritis and other demobilizing conditions with hands-free access to the full functionality of Windows 8 tablet devices, allowing them to live richer, more independent and fulfilled lives. The mobile nature of tablets combined with the eye-tracking capabilities of EyeMobile allows users to enjoy full tablet functionality anywhere, anytime. The compact device easily mounts to a wheelchair or can be customized to fit different user scenarios.

“We are grateful to CEA for this recognition of the Tobii EyeMobile and for helping us continue to raise awareness of the need for greater technology accessibility,” said Oscar Werner, president of Tobii Assistive Technology. “As accessibility continues to gain attention in the consumer electronics space, we are proud to be at the forefront, delivering innovative solutions to enable everyone – including people with mobility challenges – to experience the thrill of consumer electronics.”

Following the news of this announcement, Tobii Assistive Technology has also significantly reduced the price of the Tobii EyeMobile solution to $2,345 to make the device more obtainable for those who need it the most. Tobii PCEye Go, the eye-tracking peripheral that powers the EyeMobile solution and that can be used on laptop and desktop PCs, has also been reduced to $1,995. Tobii believes that this will help improve the quality of life for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other mobility challenges as they now can access computers and tablets, surf the web and even pursue an education or a career.

The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®), the producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology. CEA has been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:
