Wallaby Financial Presents Data on Consumer Credit Card Spending Patterns at National Retailers, Restaurants, Hotels, and Airlines

Infographic Illustrates Comparison of Average Amount Spent at Competitive Brands

PASADENA, Calif.--()--Wallaby Financial, the leader in mobile and web-based credit card optimization solutions, today released an infographic that compares the average amount spent at a number of leading US merchants, hotels and airlines. The infographic includes results from an extensive review of the credit card usage by Wallaby’s tens of thousands of users.

The brand spending comparison reveals a number of instances where competitive brands have significant disparities in average credit card spend. This includes:

  • Starbucks customers’ average credit card spend within their 13,279 locations is more than twice the dollar amount of Dunkin’ Donuts in their 7,015 locations (average credit card spend of $11.52 at Starbucks versus $5.49 at Dunkin’ Donuts)
  • Customers charge around 25% more on their credit cards for meals at Burger King than customers at McDonalds
  • The highest average credit card transaction of all major US airlines is American Airlines with an average charge of $394.04

“While there are a variety of factors that influence credit card spend, the results in the infographic indicate clearly that certain brands are better at driving higher credit card transactions than others.” said Matthew Goldman, Co-Founder and CEO, Wallaby Financial. “To ensure that the comparisons were fair, we were careful to compare brands with similar price points and target audiences. The infographic is the next installment in our series that analyzes trends and data in credit card usage.”

The ‘How the Top Brands Compare’ infographic is available as a single image that compares Starbucks with Dunkin’ Donuts, Amazon.com with Walmart, McDonalds with Burger King, Airlines including American Airlines, United, Virgin, JetBlue, Delta, US Airways, an Southwest, and hotels including Holiday Inn, Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, Marriott, and Westin. The infographic is also available as separate images for each market sector.
