StoneTurn Welcomes Paul Marcus and Jamal Ahmad, Continuing StoneTurn’s East Coast Expansion

NEW YORK--()--StoneTurn Group, a forensic accounting and dispute consulting firm, today welcomes Paul Marcus as a Principal in its Boston and New York offices and Jamal Ahmad as a Managing Director in its New York office.

Paul has been retained as an expert in damage, valuation and corporate finance matters. His background in commercial and investment banking included advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, valuation of securities and businesses, solvency analyses, due diligence, raising and providing capital, and originating, structuring, and negotiating complex financial transactions. Paul has significant experience in working with financial services companies and in additions has completed assignments in a wide variety of other industries including: technology, energy, telecommunications, professional services, manufacturing, and distribution among others. Paul has testified as an expert witness in court and depositions.

Jamal provides clients both public and private in forensic accounting investigations and compliance consulting services in a variety of industries, including electronics, oil and gas, chemical, commodities, financial services, broker/dealers, healthcare, high-tech and manufacturing. Jamal will be supplementing the StoneTurn remediation and compliance teams.

About Paul Marcus

Paul Marcus, now a Principal in StoneTurn’s Boston and New York office, has extensive expertise advising clients in commercial disputes and litigation, solvency analysis, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, security and business valuation, investment decision making, performing independent fundamental research and due diligence, strategic planning and financial analysis, raising and providing capital, originating, structuring, and negotiating complex financial transactions.

Within the litigation environment, Paul has acted as both testifying and consulting expert in dispute matters where he has advised clients on a wide variety of topics including valuation, securities pricing and reaction to new or previously undisclosed information, financing strategy, solvency, lending and underwriting, financial analysis, large scale investigations, fairness opinions, capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, commercial and economic damages, analysis of complex financial structures, commercial and investment banking practices, and others. Paul, a CFA and CFE, was most recently a Managing Director at Duff & Phelps in the Dispute and Legal Management Consulting Group. Prior to that he was a Managing Director in the Financial and Economic Consulting Practice of Huron Consulting Group.

In positions prior to his involvement in dispute consulting, Paul was a Managing Director and co-founder of Corporate Finance Advisors, Inc. and a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Group at Shawmut Bank where he completed numerous engagements in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private placements, financial advisory services and valuations. Before his corporate finance role at Shawmut, Paul was the Director of Finance of a start-up business, an Investment Officer with Marlborough Capital Advisors (a mezzanine fund), a Vice President in the Project Finance Group at Shawmut Bank and an Assistant Vice President in the Utilities/Telecommunications Group at Bank of America.

About Jamal Ahmad

Jamal Ahmad is a Managing Director in StoneTurn’s New York office and has over 14 years of experience providing forensic accounting investigation and compliance consulting services to public and private companies. Jamal’s consulting services include, but are not limited to, performing forensic accounting investigations involving Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other anti-bribery/anti-corruption matters, providing litigation support in complex dispute and litigation matters in both national and international arenas involving: application of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, price disputes and white collar crime matters and design and implementation of internal control, ethics and compliance programs.

Jamal is a CPA, CFE, CFF and JD who currently serves on the adjunct faculty of Molloy College and in the most recent past had worked as a Senior Director at FTI Consulting in their Forensic Accounting and Litigation Consulting Services practice. Prior to this, Jamal worked within the financial dispute consulting industry at LECG, AON Consulting, Kroll, PwC and Deloitte and Touche. Outside of the litigation industry, Jamal was on a member of the Disclosure Committee for Hewlett Packard.
