Creekstone Farms Premium Beef Processing Plant Reopens

Less than One Month Following Fire, Plant Begins Harvesting Cattle

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan.--()--Today, Creekstone Farms Premium Beef announced that it has resumed production at its Arkansas City, KS facility less than one month after a fire temporarily suspended production. The company began receiving cattle as early as Sunday evening October 20, 2013 and restarted its cattle harvest operation this morning. The company plans to start beef production on Wednesday.

“To be back up and running one month after the fire is remarkable and would not be possible without the hard-work and dedication of all our employees,” commented Dennis Buhlke, President and CEO of Creekstone Farms Premium Beef.

Creekstone Farms continued supplying customers with its Black Angus beef products during the closure through co-pack arrangements secured with third-party packers.

“We felt it extremely important that our customers continued to receive Creekstone beef even though we knew this was a temporary situation,” said Jim Rogers, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Ground beef and shipping operations, although temporarily interrupted, resumed within a week after the fire. The fire occurred late afternoon on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
