Healthland Partners with InteliChart to Support Meaningful Use Stage 2 for Rural and Critical Access Hospitals

Patient portal to enhance connectivity between patients and providers, facilitate care coordination in rural areas

MINNEAPOLIS & CHARLOTTE, N.C.--()--Healthland, the nation’s largest provider of integrated solutions to rural community and critical access hospitals, today announced that they have partnered with InteliChart, leading provider of patient engagement and HIE technology, adding the InteliChart Patient Portal as its exclusive patient engagement solution. Healthland will integrate InteliChart’s 2014 ONC-certified patient portal with its electronic health records (EHR) solution designed for hospitals and ambulatory clinics. This combined offering will provide Healthland clients with a secure way to exchange health data in accordance with Meaningful Use Stage 2 measures.

As a result of this partnership, organizations using the Healthland EHR will have access to the InteliChart Patient Portal, enhancing workflows and enabling patients to engage in their healthcare in a way that will yield sustained benefits to patients and Healthland clients. Healthland will leverage InteliChart’s application programming interface (API) to achieve seamless integration and to capitalize on the ongoing evolution of the InteliChart Patient Portal. The terms of the partnership also provide Healthland with flexibility – through flexible hosting alternatives and an optional source license (SL) to incorporate its own modifications.

“When identifying a patient portal to incorporate with our EHR, end user experience and long-term integration topped the list,” said Michael Karaman, Healthland senior vice president for product. “This combined offering facilitates the connectivity and patient-centered technology needed to increase communication between patients and providers, and will lead to continued success in achieving Meaningful Use.”

InteliChart’s patient portal will enable patients with secure 24/7 provider access via the portal, and make scheduling appointments, receiving discharge instructions and viewing visit notes from previous appointments easier. Having this direct line of communication to their providers will give patients the opportunity to be better managers of their health, and will be of particular benefit to patients who do not live within close proximity to their providers.

“While we are very focused on delivering the industry’s most advanced patient engagement platform, we are equally committed to ensuring that our technologies complement our partners products and solutions,” said Gary Hamilton, president of InteliChart. “Healthland has established a standard of excellence for rural and critical access hospital EHR systems and we look forward to upholding this standard in connecting rural communities to their caregivers through our portal technology.”
