Berkeley Design Automation Signs Key Customer for CMOS Image Sensor Verification With Analog FastSPICE™ Platform

Platform Delivers Nanometer SPICE Accuracy 5x to 10x Faster for Imaging Products

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., provider of the world’s fastest nanometer circuit verification, today announced that OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, has selected the company’s Analog FastSPICE (AFS) Platform for block-level characterization and full-circuit verification of their single-chip CMOS image sensors for consumer and commercial applications.

“We have stringent circuit verification requirements to achieve the high resolutions, low light levels, and resulting image quality of our CMOS image sensors,” said T.J. Dai, director of analog and layout at OmniVision. “We selected the AFS Platform because it provides the accuracy and speed that enables us to perform full-spectrum device noise analysis to characterize the quality of our single-chip CMOS image sensor designs.”

The Analog FastSPICE Platform provides the world’s fastest circuit verification for nanometer analog, RF, mixed-signal, memory, and custom digital circuits. Foundry certified to 20nm, the AFS Platform delivers nanometer SPICE accuracy 5x-10x faster than traditional SPICE and 2x-6x faster than parallel SPICE simulators. For large circuits the AFS Platform delivers >10M-element capacity and the fastest mixed-signal simulation. For memory and other array-based circuits, AFS Mega™ delivers silicon-accurate simulation with >100M element capacity. For silicon-accurate characterization it includes the industry’s only comprehensive full-spectrum device noise analysis and a high-productivity Analog Characterization Environment (ACE™)—both of which deliver 5x-10x speedup over alternative approaches. Available licenses for the AFS Platform include AFS Circuit Simulator, AFS Mega, AFS Nano, AFS Transient Noise Analysis, AFS RF Analyses, AFS Co-Simulation, AFS AMS, and ACE.

“We are delighted that OmniVision has adopted the AFS Platform for verification of their advanced digital imaging solutions for consumer and commercial applications,” said Ravi Subramanian, President and CEO of Berkeley Design Automation. “It further validates that Berkeley Design Automation is an essential partner to leading edge companies designing a wide variety of imaging sensor applications.”
