Gardiner-Smith Laboratories Acquires Animal Reference Pathology, a Division of ARUP

SALT LAKE CITY--()--Gardiner-Smith Laboratories, a privately owned Utah company, has announced its acquisition of Animal Reference Pathology, a division of ARUP Laboratories at the University of Utah.

According to Chief Executive and Medical Officer David W. Gardiner, DVM, MS, DACVP, “We are committed to the very highest level of integrity, technology and science that ARUP has provided for the past 28 years; at the same time, we plan to increase the range of services, timeliness and staff accessibility to meet the expanding and increasingly specialized needs of our veterinarian and research clients. President and Chief Operating Officer Everett Smith said that the new company will retain the name of Animal Reference Pathology and that headquarters will remain in the Salt Lake area. Smith anticipates a move from the University of Utah location to a new location in the Salt Lake City area within six months. Smith added, “We are happy to report that many of the Animal Reference Pathology staff, including Dr. Sharon Wilson and Dr. Lawrence McGill, who will serve as Medical Director, will remain with us. We have added additional professional staff, significantly strengthened our business management division, and plan to update both facilities and equipment.”

Animal Reference Pathology provides pathology services to the veterinary community with review and diagnosis by board-certified veterinary pathologists with interests ranging from dermatopathology, neoplasia, hepatic, enteric and ocular pathology, reptile and amphibian medicine, food animal diseases, and viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases. Animal Reference Pathology specializes in diagnostic veterinary histopathology and cytopathology but also provides contract research histopathology, specialty testing, and other industry and academia projects.
