Virgin HealthMiles Expands Executive Team with Addition of Two Engineering VPs

Corporate Wellness Leader Continues Focus on B2B and B2C Product Innovation with Proven Industry Leaders at the Helm

Steven Shi, Virgin HealthMiles

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--Virgin HealthMiles, Inc., the market leader in the rapidly growing corporate wellness category, today announced that it has added Steven Shi and Chiang Ying Yi to the company’s executive team. Shi has been named the company’s vice president of Engineering, while Chiang is serving as the vice president of Engineering and Architecture.

Shi joins Virgin HealthMiles with more than 13 years of software engineering leadership experience and a proven track record of building award-winning commercial software products. In his new role, he’s responsible for the vision and execution of the company’s software engineering organization, including the strategic planning, product design, implementation, delivery and operational maintenance of the suite of software as a service offerings (SAAS) that make up Virgin HealthMiles’ Daily Engagement™ platform.

Chiang has more than 15 years experience in various leadership roles developing software and hardware technologies in the health and physical activity tracking industries. As vice president of Engineering and Architecture, he leads Virgin HealthMiles’ architectural and technological initiatives, devising and spearheading the company’s system architecture, mobile and activities tracking technologies, internal methodologies and application development lifecycle transformation - to best respond to rapidly growing product capabilities. He’s also responsible for Virgin HealthMiles’ hardware design, development and manufacturing. Chiang joined Virgin HealthMiles in 2010 as director of Engineering and IT Development.

Shi previously held technology leadership roles at Constant Contact and Brightcove. At Constant Contact, he led a product development team building a state-of-the-art API platform, which connected thousands of integration partners with Constant Contact’s core product. Prior to Constant Contact, Shi served as vice president of Custom Engineering for DynamicOps (acquired by VMware). Prior to DynamicOps, he worked for eight years at Storability Software (acquired by Sun Microsystems). He holds an MBA from Nichols College in Massachusetts.

Prior to Virgin HealthMiles, Chiang spent nearly 10 years at SportBrain where he last held the position of CTO. There, he led the global introduction of the first uploadable B2C personal activity tracking device that worked in combination with a personalized rewards, challenges and health tracking platform. The product created a new market and established the activity and health tracking industry standard. Chiang subsequently created the world’s first USB activity tracking device for both the B2B and B2C markets, which enabled companies and health plans to offer a health, rewards and physical tracking solution to their employees and health plan members in various countries outside the US. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from University of California, Santa Barbara and attended law school at University of São Paulo, Brazil. Chiang has been recognized by the U.S. government as a person with extraordinary abilities in the field of health and physical activity technologies.

“We’re excited about the addition of Steven and Chiang to our executive team. They both bring a wealth of engineering knowledge and a tremendous spirit and track record of innovation across the B2B and B2C market landscape,” said Chris Boyce, CEO of Virgin HealthMiles. “We have a number of exciting technology developments coming within the next year and the leadership of Steven and Chiang will play an important role in the innovative new ways progressive corporate wellness programs can positively impact employee engagement and productivity.”
